-Book Introduction
Winner of the 14th Munhakdongne Children's Literature Award
"Can I report it?" is a fairy tale for lower grades selected by Munhakdongne Children's Literature Award for the first time in 10 years. It has the language of life, the troubles in life, and living children, not ideas, and this forms a consensus among children who read this book and gives them strength. The judges commented, “There will be no one who can follow in the depiction of a commotion where a small incident grows like a snowball,” revealing the artist’s potential and the entertainment potential of this work to the fullest.
This book humorously contains the noisy incidents that occur while reporting defective food that has expired to the police and serious concerns about what 'real bad' is. It adds a sense of familiarity by having characters with extremely childlike courage and fear solve problems that children would normally feel confused about, using “unhealthy food” that is closely related to children’s real lives. However, fairy tales that are determined and try to instill a lesson are absolute children.
The author must be a good humorist. Heonjae and Kyungsoo, who represent children, and the homeroom teacher and sympathizer, and super grandpa, who represent adults, look warmly at all and laugh from beginning to end. Children and adults grab their stomachs and giggle, making them deeply immersed in the story. The counterattacks of the adults and the children who catch them off guard are exhilarating, and they ask again and again whether their actions are appropriate or not, and find a clue to a solution. The process of unraveling is healthy. So, this book does not stop at satirizing the world of adults, but inspires energy to share emotions and find directions together.
