A DX format compatible 5x standard zoom lens with a focal length of 16-80 mm (equivalent to 24-120 mm in 35 mm format), covering a focal range that is easy to use on a daily basis.
Advanced specifications such as a maximum aperture of 2.8 achieved at the wide-angle side are condensed into the world's lightest*1 lens body. It weighs approximately 1245 g*2 when combined with the D7200 and 950 g*2 when combined with the D5500, making it convenient to use as a high-performance travel lens or a full-fledged snap lens. It can also be used as a high-performance travel lens or a full-fledged snap lens.
Nano Crystal Coating, adopted for the first time in a DX lens, reduces ghosting and flare.

The Nano Crystal Coating provides a high level of anti-reflective effect over the entire visible light range, exceeding conventional levels. This dramatically improves the prevention of ghosting caused by red light, which has been difficult to reduce with conventional coatings. It also significantly reduces ghosting and flare in backlit conditions. Even the sun setting on the horizon can be beautifully utilised against backlight to create a dramatic image. The first DX lenses to feature a fluorine coating that resists dirt adhesion and can be easily wiped off when it does adhere.
Nikon's fluorine coating provides excellent stain resistance, making it difficult for dirt (dust, water droplets, oil, mud) to adhere to the lens surface, and even if it does adhere, it can be easily wiped off.
Furthermore, Nikon's unique coating technology is highly durable and does not peel off easily, so it can withstand far more wiping cycles than other similar coatings, and its excellent effect lasts for a long time. It is also effective when shooting in sudden bad weather conditions, as in the photo.
