Humble Beginnings: Nubian Heritage began as an idea from two New York street vendors. In 1992, fresh out of college and unemployed, Rich and Nyema embarked on a mission to produce high-quality natural products using traditional African recipes and fair trade ingredients. Today, Nubian Heritage offers culturally authentic natural products inspired by ancient healing philosophies from around the world. While Nubian Heritage no longer makes its products in a bathtub, little else has changed. Nubian Heritage still manufactures its products in-house, uses fair trade ingredients, and continues to invest in community commerce.
Heritage: Sweet and spicy patchouli has long been prized in aromatherapy for its beneficial effects on oily or flaky skin and hair. Patchouli, which relaxes, refreshes, and soothes the senses, complements the Amazonian beauty secret, buriti oil. Literally translated as "water of life," buriti palm has long been prized in the Amazon for its nutrient-rich fruit.
