How to Use: Feeding Method: Hold baby firmly in your arms, upright or semi-upright. This will help to make your baby comfortable. Insert the bulb tip into your baby’s nostril and very gently suck through the mouthpiece as if you were drinking a beverage through a straw. You can always use stronger suction if needed. The mouthpiece is a one-way valve so do not blow air into your baby’s nose. Before using the NeilMed® Naspira® Nasal-Oral Aspirator (NOA), a few drops of saline solution as a pre-treatment or a saline spray into each nostril can help loosen thick mucus. The mucus coming out of your baby’s nostrils should come out quite easily and during suctioning, the mucus in your baby’s nostrils will primarily go to the tip of the nose and, if excessive, to the bulb area. Repeat the previous steps in the same nostril and/or other nostril as needed. For the safety of you and your baby, please follow the cleaning and disinfection procedures. If the filter becomes dirty due to secretions, replace the filter once a week after an acute infection or during use. Cleaning and Sterilization Instructions: Disassemble all components. Pinch the tip opening between your thumb and index finger. With the other hand, squeeze the bulb with the thumb and index finger to quickly increase air pressure so that the parts separate. Pull the ends to separate the remaining components. Remove the filter and set aside before cleaning. The filter cannot be washed or sterilized, but it can be reused if it does not come into contact with mucus. Wash all loose parts with warm dishwashing detergent, then rinse thoroughly with clean water. Shake off any remaining water. Choose one of three methods for sterilization: Boiling: Place all components in boiling water for 5 minutes. Allow the water to cool completely, then remove the components from the water. Shake off any remaining water. Allow all components to cool and air dry before reassembling. Use a lint-free towel to dry the outside of the components and air dry the inside of the components. Microwave: Wash all components with soap and water as described above, shake off any remaining water, and rinse. Now place all components in the microwave for 45 seconds. All components will be sterilized. Make sure all components are almost dry before microwaving. Chemical disinfection: In some countries, if possible, use chemical tablets or solutions for disinfection of bottles and follow the same procedure. Note: Filters are single-use and should be replaced if they come into contact with mucus or after the child's acute illness has ended. Do not sterilize and reuse filters. Can be used as a single-bulb aspirator. Filters cannot be re-sterilized.
