The R-marked crystal is edged with a coin edge to make scratches less noticeable. The back cover is also edged with a coin edge, giving it a great side view. This is a faithful and easy-to-use reproduction of the early white-dial Type A-11 issued to the U.S. Army Air Corps. This model was distributed to pilots as standard equipment in 1940. Like other A-11s issued at the same time, it originally had a white dial. The white dial is thought to have lasted until around 1942, after which it was changed to a black dial. Compared to the black-dial type, there are far fewer of these, making this a rare reproduction model. It comes with a green nylon NATO strap.
