Made from natural raffia native to Madagascar
Of all natural grasses, raffia is the most popular among women. It features the texture and lightness that only natural materials can offer. Another advantage is that it can be folded and is easy to carry. This model has a short brim and comes in two sizes: 56.5cm and 57.5cm. It was commercialized in response to many requests from petite women. Not only does it provide sun protection, it also has excellent breathability! Even with a short brim, it provides excellent sun protection. In addition, the breathability that only natural materials can provide keeps you cool and comfortable without getting stuffy.
Made of lightweight, foldable raffia
Raffia is a natural material that is characterized by its lightness and softness. Unlike straw, it is made from soft leaves, making it easy to process and knit. The knitted hat body can be folded and carried, making it ideal for travel or short outings. Its lightness and foldability make it popular with many women. This time, we used a hat body made with a very finely woven "fine crochet" technique. It is a rare material that can only be knitted a few times a day, and its beauty increases when shaped. It looks gorgeous, and is a material that will add a touch of summer to any wardrobe, not just for women.
◆It is foldable, making it perfect for taking on the go!
The brim has a wire inside, allowing you to adjust the angle and how you wear it. Unlike overseas products, it is made using Japanese wooden molds, so it fits perfectly. The inside of the sweatband has hook-and-loop tape that allows you to fine-tune the size. The material is soft and foldable. When not in use indoors or in the shade, you can simply roll it up and put it in your bag for easy carrying.
◆Raffia?
Raffia is a natural material made from the leaves of the raffia palm, native to Madagascar. Hats are made from woven strings made from this fiber. The more you use it, the more it will become comfortable in your hands and softer to the touch.
◆Traditional masterpieces: Tanaka Hat Shop
Kasukabe City in Saitama Prefecture has long been known as a distribution center for wheat. At the time, the production of "straw sanada," made by bleaching, flattening, and weaving wheat straw, was a side job for farmers. The origins of Tanaka Hat Shop also date back to this time. Around 1880, while working on his farm, Tanaka began making "sanada," a braided cord made from weaved wheat, as a side job. It wasn't until around 1897, around 1897, that he began making hats in earnest. Even now, more than a century later, Tanaka Hat Shop continues to preserve the fine, traditional techniques while also creating products that incorporate modern needs. Today, Tanaka Hat Shop is one of Japan's leading, long-established hat manufacturers, and is often referred to as "when it comes to Japanese straw hats, it's Tanaka Hats."
