The 3rd Rough Guide Popular Album
We've gathered the hottest artists from Scotland!
The music of the Celtic world, centered on Ireland, is competing for the first and second place in the Rough Guide series. Up until now, various albums have been released, from those that are themed on Celtic music, to those that, of course, encompass Ireland, and even those that feature folk music from the country. This time, we will introduce Scottish music, which is different from Irish music, even though it is also in the Celtic world.
As you know, Scotland is a region or non-independent country that makes up the UK, along with England and Ireland. It was an independent kingdom until 1707, when it merged with the Kingdom of England to form the Kingdom of Great Britain. It is the second largest country in the UK in terms of both territory and population. It is said that the Picts (Celtic people) settled there around 1000 BC, and Celtic culture remains strong. Tartan and kilts were originally the national costumes of northern Scotland. If you are a rock fan, you may get a sense of the name of the representative city, Glasgow. This is the third collection of Scottish music in the Rough Guide. It is full of the latest sounds, such as Rau (3), whose Japan tour was well received, Rachel Thurmanni (10), a young singer whose debut EP topped the UK indie shop singles chart for two consecutive weeks and was praised by Elvis Costello, Ron Sexsmith, and others, Emily Smith (13), who is also known as the "Scottish Joni Mitchell," and a duo with a fiddler and a Swedish mandolinist who won the BBC Celtic Music Contest two years ago (7).
In addition, the bonus CD contains the first album of mid-career band Clair, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary. This compilation is perfect for Celtic music fans as well as beginners who have never heard Scottish music before.
